SKIN
The skin is the largest organ of the body, it is an outside reflection of our health and wellness on the inside. For example, if you get too tired you will get dark circles under the eyes, our stressed frowning will produce the lines between the eyes and muscle tension at the jaw as we grit the teeth. Hormonal imbalance and surges in hormones affect inflammatory patterns of the skin and poor diet/bowel health will also reflect on our skins surface. As we get older the skin loses elasticity, collagen land moisture levels which causes the visible signs of aging. These issues can all be addressed using facial needling and acupuncture.
Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine, adopted by the west in more recent years and now widely accepted that there is a scientific understanding and evidence base to support the practice.
Jo has an excellent understanding of anatomy and physiology and could not advocate a treatment without underpinning knowledge and supporting evidence.
Acupuncture has multiple local treatment effects through, local cellular chemistry such as inflammatory healing responses, collagen synthesis and circulatory changes stimulated by needling.
Needling also can stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system to produce the relaxation and stress regulating benefits through the 'rest and digest' mechanisms of lower heart rate, lower breathing rate, lower blood pressure and promoting good digestion. The parasympathetic NS is the opposite to our sympathetic system responsible for 'flight or fight' so can help calm the agitated system. This system can help an agitated bladder and bowel as well as the more typical emotional feelings associated with stress.
stimulating the natural building blocks to increase
nutrient supply boosted to the skin and waste products and toxins transported away
Oil and water production boosted in the skin
Boosting the body's natural healing process to renew cells, and overall reduce inflammatory problems
release of balancing hormones such as endorphins and oxytoxin promote rest and relaxation
points to activate the calming nervous system can settle the body such as bladder and bowel function
muscles can hold tension and build up and store watse products causing pain and inflammation
The body recongises acupuncture stimulus and responds by releasing neuro chemicals reduce any pain sensations
"acupuncture can target fine lines and wrinkles due to sun damage and aging. Its results are not as dramatic and immediate as Botox, but it lasts longer."
"Cosmetic acupuncture aims to treat the imbalance of physiological conditions thatmayhave an effect on your appearance by using both body and facial acupuncture points."
"When it comes to needles puncturing the face, fillers and Botox may now form our main association. However, acupuncture has been used in a cosmetic context for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)."
